About Ingrid
Hi, my name is Ingrid Edwards and I am a watercolour artist.
As a child, I loved drawing with pencil and Indian ink, later creating projects for my children's school with coloured pencils. While running Art Therapy courses, I was inspired by the children's creativity - it reignited my own passion for art.
After moving to Whanganui in 2005, I completed an Introductory Art Course through the Learning Connection. I began wanting to paint landscapes exactly as I saw them, but soon discovered that letting go and allowing my art to flow felt far more natural. During that time, I especially enjoyed working with pastels.
More recently, I discovered watercolour painting and was instantly hooked. I love it's transparency, layering, and the unpredictable dance of water and paint. It's a medium full of surprises and endless possibilities.
My garden irises were among my first subjects, followed by a commission to paint a John Deere tractor - which sparked a fascination with tractors and rusty vehicles. My favourite subjects, though, are dogs. I love capturing their cheeky personalities, especially through their eyes. I also enjoy painting birds.
Thank you for viewing my artwork.
I hope it brings a little joy and colour to your day!
